Depending on the time of the year you visit the farmstand, you will experience various special events and/or activities happening. Come and enjoy our Strawberry Festival which is always held in the middle of June and our Harvest Festival which is in the mid-October time frame! In addition depending on the time of the year you might find one, or more, of the following activities going on throughout the year. |
Strawberry Festival
Mazza Farms is very proud of our strawberry fields which open in June and depending on the season can last for three to four weeks. You can purchase our strawberries (along with home made biscuits and fresh whipped cream at our retail store) or you can Pick Your Own strawberries in our fields. Nothing quite says summer in Vermont like strawberry shortcake piled high with whipped cream and featuring ripe, juice strawberries from our fields. Add the in-house bakery baking powder biscuits and you will understand why we look forward every year to strawberry season at Mazza Farms.

Pick Your Own Flowers
Sam Mazza's farmstand offers our seasonal Pick-Your-Own Flowers. In-which we grow many old time favorites--Snapdragons, Zinnias, Sunflowers, Gladiolas and many others. Our cut flower garden (normally available early August through frost) is open during normal business hours and is located just beyond the farm stand and parking lot. At the cash register in the store you will find containers to put the flowers in while you pick as well as floral cutting tools. The price will vary depending on the type of flowers you select and the time of year, starting at .30 cents per stem. The gazebo is also located in close proximity to our Pick-Your-Own garden. So if you have the time you can take a moment to sit down, relax and enjoy the Sam Mazza's flower gardens! |
You have your fresh flowers, now what? The following tips will help extend the vase life of your cut flowers:
Keep them cool or even refrigerated until ready for arranging. Re-cut the stems underwater. When stems are cut in the air, a bubble forms in the conductive tissue of the flower. This air bubble can slow down the uptake of water and food for the flower and decrease the vase life. When you cut the stems underwater, the air bubble does not form. Add a packet of Flora life (we will provide when you check out with your bouquet) to each quart of water in the vase. For a homemade version, add 1 tsp. of bleach and 1 tsp. of sugar. The bleach keeps bacteria from growing and clogging up the tissues of the flowers and the sugar provides food for the flowers.
We are at the mercy of the weather, though, and therefore cannot guarantee any flowers will be available at any particular time. |
Playground & Pavilion
The "Annette Mazza Memorial Children's Area" is located just beyond the farm stand next to the Pick Your Own gardens, where your children can play while you enjoy a few quiet moments in the gazebo or under the new pavilion and while your there, pick some fresh flowers to take home with you from the cutting garden.
This is an unsupervised area, adult supervision is appreciated. Please play at your own risk. |
Petting Zoo
We are proud to have another year running that you and your children can experience our year round Petting Zoo at Gary's Farmyard. Which offers great hands-on experience where children can get up-close and learn about different farmyard animals. Which includes chickens, geese(Peep-Peep & Trillium), goats, sheep, our Scottish Highlander(Zak) & Annie, our Shetland Pony.
As always, animal feed is offered at the pens for .25 cents. So come and enjoy them. |
